Most projects taken on by Varsity HD are handled by our in-house professionals. However, there are certain occasions that call for an entire crew during a shoot.

At Varsity HD, we believe the most important resource in any production is the people you rely on to make your project a success. For larger productions, our crews are put together from close colleagues and long time friends. We hand pick crew members for each production according to their field of expertise. All are long time industry professionals who make their living in the production business.

Whether your project will involve a large crew or a single cameraman, Varsity HD can provide the right crew for your job. We don’t hire unknown people. Our crews and support personnel are some of the best in the business.

Dennis Knudsen

Dennis has over twenty years experience in broadcast media, both radio and television. For 18 years Dennis has been spending his Sunday’s in radio booths at NFL Stadiums across the country mixing sound for the Patriots radio broadcast. During which he has also spent time as a chief engineer, production director, producer and voice talent. For the last 8 years he has spent his time as the Engineer In Charge on the NESN mobile production truck for the Red Sox and Bruins telecasts. With his background in both audio and video, you can expect nothing but the best in the finished product!

Melissa Knudsen

Melissa Knudsen has over twenty years experience listening to her husband’s stories about what happened in “insert city here”. Melissa coordinates video shoots with clients & their Coaches and assists in the field with lighting and audio. She also handles logistics for Varsity HD’s live webcasts.

Janelle Carlson developed her passion for softball at the age of 8. Carlson has competed at local, regional and national levels for 19 years. She obtained a Bachelors Degree in Sports Entertainment and Event Management as well as a Master’s Degree in Event/Organizational Leadership from Johnson & Wales University. Currently, Carlson is the owner of East Coast Pitching. She loves coaching and would go above and beyond to help a pitcher succeed in being the best player they can be! She brings an experienced coaches eye to the Varsity HD team!

Rog was born and raised in Wisconsin and established an intense desire for sports and soon realized that sports needed to be a big factor in his life and he started preparing himself for a life in broadcasting. Roger ended up coming to Boston via the US Navy. It opened many doors for him to start living his dream. Radio did not pay well and for many years he subsidized his family’s income by running direct mail companies. He always kept my feet wet in radio and one of the highlights of his life was doing the play-by-play of Milton High School when they won the State Basketball Championship in which both of his sons were members of the team. His oldest son Rich sank the two free throws that clinched the title.
